We will start from Arco and walk through the centuries-old olive groves of San Martino, then follow the impressive cliffs of Massone, one of the most famous climbing spots in the area. We’ll observe the climbers scaling the sheer rock faces before ascending to the base of the cliffs, where we’ll discover the first oolite quarries. Oolite is a soft, easy-to-work rock, used by local sculptors up until the 20th century.
Continuing along the path, we will enter the heart of Bosco Caproni, a rare holm oak forest favored by the mild climate of Lake Garda. Here, we’ll find the largest and most fascinating quarries, which we can explore from within to admire their unique structure. As we continue, we’ll reach the striking “whale’s back,” a rock formation shaped by the forces of nature, and the World War I trenches, a reminder of the past that deeply marked this territory.
The panoramic view of the Sarca Valley, with its imposing rock walls and the ruins of ancient mining houses, will frame this unique experience, where nature and history meet in perfect harmony.
